Roller derby tokyo

Neon Roller Monsters is an all-female Roller Derby home team from the Tokyo Roller Girls league. TRG became a full member of WFTDA in 2013 and Neons have been active in Tokyo and Yokohama since 2015.

What is Roller Derby?

Roller Derby is a contact sport played on quad skates on an oval track. It stimulates athleticism, agility and strategy. The sport is built with a community mindset, where leagues and teams are run “by skaters, for skaters”

Roller Derby is known for providing a safe space where everyone is equal, regardless of body type, sexual orientation, gender expression, race, religion or nationality.

Who are Neons?

Neon Roller Monsters, Neons for short, first formed as the Kanagawa team from Tokyo Roller Girls, in 2015.

Our team now practices Roller Derby mainly in Tokyo and has members living in Kanagawa, Tokyo and Saitama. We have skaters from Japan, Australia, Brazil, Malaysia and United States.

Neons were founded with a desire to help spread mainstream athletic Roller Derby in Japan.

That mission continues, as we strive to create a welcoming and hardworking atmosphere within our team. We also aim to help translate materials to Japanese this coming 2020 and help spread the derby word over here

February 2020 practices

It’s possible to rent skates and protective gear at Tokyo Dome, but please note that it’s not suited for roller derby. It’s fine for while you’re learning but we recommend you buy you’re own gear when you can!
